Belle held its first employee appreciation picnic at Coonskin Park in Kanawha County. Over 20 employees and their families enjoyed a day of fun, games, karaoke, and great food.

The Mystic Krewe of Belle hosted friends and colleagues for a Mardi Gras Celebration at the WV Chamber of Commerce's Annual Business Summit. Over 30 people joined Belle for the celebration including our friends from the chemical industry, WVMA, and Marshall Health.

The Belle Chemical Strategic Engagement and Communications team along with consultant Rachel Coffman with Coffman Collaborative earn the Public Relations Society of America WV Chapter Crystal Award for Belle Chemical's Community Relations Outreach in 2021. Jason Lloyd, PAC Engineer, and Rachel Coffman accepted the award at the PRSA Crystal Award Ceremony.

When a disaster struck our area, Belle Chemical employees collected food and volunteered to help our neighbors in need in the Campbell's Creek area. Belle Chemical supplied clean-up supplies to Mary Ingles Elementary School for residents, purchased food for community members at Bowles Boyz BBQ, and volunteered in removing debris from devastated homes.

Belle Chemical participated in the Riverside Public Library's Back-to-School Kick-Off. Over 90 kids and their families attended the event. Heather Henson, Senior Chemist, did a science demo with the kids making oobleck. Oobleck is a slime-like substance that is a non-newtonian fluid exhibiting qualities of both a solid and a liquid.

Kyle Whitehair, Sr. Human Resources Business Partner, and Heather Henson, Senior Chemist, participated in WVSU's Yellow Jackets UNITE, a five-week summer research experience for minority high school students hosted by West Virginia State University. The team spoke about their own careers at Belle Chemical and the many STEM careers available at the plant.

Belle Chemical employees visited the Clay Center to participate in their Cooking with Chemistry week for their summer camps. Belle chemist, Heather Henson, attended the event to answer campers' questions and assist in the chemistry lesson being taught to campers. Belle also presented the Clay Center Summer Camps with a check for $2,500 to assist with camp activities and tuition.

Belle Chemical awarded scholarships to three local students at the inaugural Belle Chemical Scholarship banquet. These students are seeking STEM-related degrees at accredited West Virginia universities. Each student was awarded a $500 scholarship that can be used to pay for books, tuition, housing, or other school-related expenses.
