Belle officially launched its new annual scholarship program for students of Kanawha County. This program offers $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors and undergraduate and graduate students pursuing STEM-related degrees. In its inaugural year, scholarships will be reserved for Riverdale High School, Carver Career and Technical Education Center and Belle Chemical employees' children.

Belle employees participated in the Calhoun Middle School’s “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” commercial at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences. Students had the opportunity to interview Belle employees to learn more about the importance of manufacturing and careers in manufacturing.

Belle employees collected $1,500 to donate to the Marmet Elementary School’s Adopt a Child program. This program ensured that local students in need were able to receive a Christmas present during the holidays. The principal, Mrs. Cindy Schilling, was very appreciative of Belle’s generosity.

Belle partnered with the Education Alliance to facilitate a job shadow-training module focused on teamwork for students at Washington High School. Belle’s own, Jason Lloyd served as the guest speaker for the training module.

Belle provided Take-and-Make ‘Make Your Own Paint’ STEM activity kits to the Riverside Public Library to distribute at its annual Holiday Open House. More than 30 families received the STEM activity kits to enjoy experimenting at home.

Carver Career and Technical Education Center invited Belle to speak to students in the manufacturing pre-programs. Belle’s own, Jerry Valentine spoke to the class about the manufacturing industry, the jobs at Belle Chemical, the skills needed for success, and more.

Belle employees enjoyed an evening of networking at the Holiday Open House hosted for Belle’s Community Advisory Panel (CAP) members and community partners at J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works.

Belle employees and their families volunteered at the Clay Center to assist with the ‘Make Your Own Paint’ family workshop. This STEM volunteer opportunity is in alignment with Belle’s sponsorship of the Van Gogh for All exhibit.

Belle held its second Community Advisory Panel (CAP) meeting to provide local leaders with updates on Belle. The CAP’s mission is to maintain dialog with neighbors and local citizens about plant operations.
